In 2016 the earth’s average temperature was the warmest since recordkeeping began in 1880. The scientific community holds strongly recommends that the average global temperature increase must be limited to increase be limited to 1.5 °C C - 2° C compared to the pre-industrial era, to prevent the damaging effects of climate change.
