As the effects of climatechange intensify, our responsibility is twofold: to reduce emissions across operations and to build resilience in the communities and ecosystems we serve. By 2050, the goal is net-zero emissions across the full lifecycle of our end-to-end shipping and logistics services.
Achieving net-zero by 2045 – that is the target we have set ourselves at Henkel. In an interview with Fritz for Future, Henkel's Sustainability Podcast , Dirk Ullrich, Climate and Nature Expert at Henkel, discusses how the net-zero target is integrated into Henkel's sustainability strategy.
T hree years ago, Canada enshrined its 2050 net-zero target into law. Bringing Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions to a level anywhere in the vicinity of zero, net or otherwise, in the next 30 years will require a radical departure from what we’ve seen the last three decades. Such an alignment is possible.
For example, companies representing more than 90% of global GDP have already committed to some form of netzero target ( netzero is a state where any new greenhouse gas emissions are balanced by removals). In many cases, however, companies aren’t yet acting on their netzero goals. This is a problem.
Enhanced Methodologies : Improvements in data allocation for recycling, transportation logistics, and cooling models to ensure accuracy and compliance. The Manchester Prize, funded by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology and delivered by Challenge Works (part of the Nesta group), “is rewarding UK-led AI breakthroughs that support the public good, including growing the economy, improving public services and helping to create a just transition to NetZero for everyone.”
This needs to change if countries on the continent are to meet their 2050 netzero goals, mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climatechange. Worried about weak governance, regulatory inconsistencies and project scalability, asset owners and managers could well look to Latin America or Asia instead.
Australia is not alone; climate extremes are escalating around the world. Companies that proactively manage their exposure through adaptation strategies or innovative climate solutions are better positioned to withstand shocks and even find new revenue streams.

Mtpa can reduce costs by up to 40 percent.
These efforts must be pursued in tandem with solid waste management; air pollution abatement must also be integrated with climatechange mitigation. Targeting air pollutants and greenhouse gases (GHGs) simultaneously can provide substantial co-benefits of improved air quality while mitigating climatechange.

In a net-zero carbon world, the low-carbon solution wins. These Scope 3 emissions often are seen as the third rail of climate policy. Right now, the corporate gold standard is netzero well before 2050, and companies at the net-zero forefront are saying that they want to halve their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2030.
Thanks to the pandemic, ICAO changed the baseline of CORSIA to include only 2019’s emissions, as opposed to the original plan to use an average of the sector’s emissions during 2019 and 2020, which would have set the emissions cap much lower due to the 2020 downturn.
