Charley, pretty much anything can be adapted to run on hydrogen. It's also a pretty stupid way to run anything, for two reasons:

1) Hydrogen's energy density is awful. It takes up more volume, for the least amount of potential energy, than any other fuel known to humankind.

2) Because hydrogen is made by steam-reforming methane, it's just another fossil fuel. Worse than methane, it's a greenhouse-gas nightmare.

Oil majors love hydrogen, because they can make it cheaply from fossil-fuel gas and sell it for a lot of money to uninformed greenies. More-informed greenies, who don't assign much importance to improving the balance sheets of oil executives, recognize synthetic gasoline will be available within two decades - gasoline that can power the billions of internal combustion vehicles already in use with no impact on climate at all.

Hydrogen is a fuel with one purpose: to make oil barons richer. Like revoking Grandpa's car keys, it's time to retire those barons before they can do any more damage.
