The Russian invasion triggered a global setback also on the issue of reducing emissions.
Europe decided to boycott Russian gas. And the consequence has been the search for sources that had already been abandoned or greatly reduced, and that are much more emitting.
The rise in prices for gas and oil derivatives has led many countries (especially the poorest) to choose cheaper (but much more polluting) sources. They justify that it is about their survival.
Will the globally agreed goals be compromised?
How much will it cost (in future health), this new situation?
What is more important to humanity: acquiescing with an increase in emissions or persevering in reducing emissions?
Do what's right for the long term or what's easier in the short term?
