Empire Hydrogen Energy Systems’ hydrogen for transportation solution touts ability to reduce emissions and cut costs for the long-haul trucking sector.

The H2 conference wraps up today and I promised to post about the interesting things that I’ve discovered. On the first day I came across two interesting technologies one of which we’ll highlight in this post.

I will also be posting my overall impressions of the hydrogen industry. As I suspected it would - the conference has altered my perspective on the hydrogen market.

But on to the Empire Hydrogen Energy Systems technology. In a nutshell it’s a retrofit for long-haul trucks that the company claims can cut diesel costs by 25% and emissions by 50%. The approach isn’t what I would call elegant or industry changing, but if the claims are accurate, it is deployable today and offers a relatively short payback period.

Mind you, I gleaned the information from an enthusiastic member of the Hydrogen Group which has a sales agreement with the developer, Empire Hydrogen, and I haven’t had a chance to vet it. I hope to connect directly with Empire Hydrogen and gain additional insights.

Freight is one of the harder sectors to decarbonize, so anything we can do now to set on the right path is so critical. Thanks for sharing Tony
