Six of the 10 Wells Dug in Aluto Langano Steam Project Excavated
Product Testing Completed by Ethiopian Electric Power Geothermal Sector Development Project Administration

Six holes product testing is completed.

Six of the 10 wells dug in Aluto Langano steam project have been excavated and product testing has been done by Ethiopian Electric Power Geothermal Sector Development Project Administration.

According to the Director of the Board, Mr. Mesay Lekadu, the remaining four holes will be tested until December 2016. M in the works getting it done.

An agreement has been reached with the World Bank to excavate four more wells, the project will be completed until September 2017. The director has stated that the program has been postponed.

They also said that 25 megawatt power was found out of the six holes where production tests were conducted.

The project is being carried out with 143 point 5 million US dollars loaned from the World Bank and 24 point 5 million out of that was received by support, the director said.

Mr. Mesay, who stated that the steam power construction sector is new in our country and that apart from the project, is being worked on to produce qualified manpower in the sector.

The project has created temporary employment opportunities for 110 Ethiopians and 40 citizens.

It has been planned to generate 70 megawatt in two phases. After 35 megawatt of the first phase, the second phase will continue.
