Today (Oct 14), the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) announced its intent to issue a funding opportunity announcement (FOA) that will drive innovation leading to economy-wide decarbonization, increased sustainability, and economic competitiveness. The "FY22 Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Building Technologies Office Multi-topic FOA" will support the Biden-Harris Administration's priorities to invest in the next-generation materials and manufacturing technologies needed to support manufacturing competitiveness, tackle the climate crisis, and move the U.S. towards a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.
U.S. manufacturing is vital to our nation's clean energy future. It is the backbone of our economy, providing millions of good-paying jobs for American workers across the country. Meeting our nation's climate goals will require research and development as well as demonstration to enable a rapid scale-up and full-scale deployment of next-generation manufacturing technologies to build competitive, sustainable, and resilient manufacturing systems and domestic supply chains.
