U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY
The Enhanced Geothermal Shot Summit

April 10, 2023

Last year, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced the Enhanced Geothermal Shot , an initiative to help usher in a clean energy future by bringing enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) to Americans nationwide. Part of DOE's Energy EarthShots Initiative to tackle key technical challenges to reaching U.S. climate goals, this department-wide effort aims to dramatically reduce the cost of EGS by 90%, to $45 per megawatt hour by 2035.

Now, we want to share more with you about that goal and what it can mean for the nation. We're gearing up to host the Enhanced Geothermal Shot Summit on May 11, 2023, and you're invited to join the conversation. This VIRTUAL event will feature discussions on the potential impact of EGS on expanding geothermal deployment and the Administration's Justice40 goals, highlights of EGS progress in recent years, and opportunities to provide feedback as we chart our path forward.

Save May 11 on your calendar to make sure you don't miss this important event and keep an eye on your inbox for your invitation to register!

Want to learn more about EGS and this Energy EarthShot in the meantime? Check out the resources on our Enhanced Geothermal Shot webpage.
