“We each benefit from society as society benefits from each of us.” — Shaun Russell of B Corp Skandinavisk on B The Change

As they pursue a more inclusive and resilient economy through their individual businesses, Certified B Corporations also find expertise and inspiration in their communities, as well as strength and solace when things get challenging.

This week’s examples put the spotlight on the power that B Corps find in community: from partnering with civic organizations on voting rights initiatives to collaborating with like-minded entrepreneurs on an impact-minded startup to joining forces for an industry makeover. Together, B Corps can amplify their social and environmental good — and create benefits for all.

Joining Forces to Build Knowledge of Voting Rights

As the fall midterm elections near, B Corps are partnering with civic partners and business networks to build voter knowledge and boost participation. Learn how The Body Shop and Tony’s Chocolonely are teaming to dismantle barriers for first-time voters with in-store activations and other special events, and find more Get Out The Vote ideas from other B Corps.

Teaming to Create an Impact Tool for Small Businesses

Small businesses looking to measure and report their impact can turn to a new tool developed by three B Corp leaders with input from others in the community. The product of their collaboration is Unit of Impact, an impact reporting platform that can be used to fulfill the legal requirements of a public benefit corporation and serve as a storytelling asset.

Coming Together to Protect Nature’s Beauty

More than 50 B Corps worldwide determined to change the beauty industry for good have joined to form the B Corp Beauty Coalition. While tackling the problems the beauty industry is responsible for, the collective action initiative looks to nature for guidance and inspiration. As Shaun Russell of B Corp Skandinavisk says on B The Change, “if beauty is defined as protecting the Earth before the self, then people need to choose beauty products best suited to this goal.”
