Job announcement: Sustainability Technician (academic hourly)

The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center Technical Assistance Program (TAP) is hiring an academic hourly Sustainability Technician to assist the zero waste team.

The successful candidate will work on waste minimization assistance with ISTC clients, assist during site visits and waste audits, as well as conduct primary data analysis. They will also work with ISTC clients to promote their successful sustainable efforts by developing case studies, fact sheets, reports, and other material to communicate and highlight sustainability efforts and practices.

This person will work 20-30 hrs/wk depending on project needs and available funding. The position is remote, although the successful candidate MUST reside within Illinois, and will require occasional travel to assist with waste audits and other tasks.

The ideal candidate will be located in the Chicagoland or Champaign-Urbana area. A bachelor’s degree environmental sciences, sustainability, engineering, or related discipline is required, with alternate degrees considered based on the nature and depth of experience as it relates to the position.
