The B Impact Assessment and other impact measurement tools continue to provide lessons and inspiration for Certified B Corporations like Rivanna Natural Designs, a 2022 Best for the World honoree this year for environment and workers. As Founder Crystal Mario says in one of this week’s featured articles: “We thought we were doing well with respect to people and the planet, and then by going through the B Corp Certification process we realized we had to sharpen the saw on lots of things.”

While sharpening the saw can involve different adjustments and updates for each business, B Corps have a common goal of measuring and acting to improve their social and environmental impact. Increasingly, it also means sharing that information with customers, investors and business partners seeking proof of their commitment to people and the planet.

Through the B Impact Assessment and other impact measurement practices, the growing global community of more than 5,600 B Corps are moving forward on their journey of continuous improvement and evolution — demonstrating how companies of all sizes can use business as a force for good.

When Earth-Friendly Values Shape a Creative Workplace

Remaining true to its values as a creator of jobs for refugees and planet-friendly alternatives to traditional trophies and plaques helped Rivanna Natural Designs earn Best for the World honors for environment and workers. “Once we made the decision that there was just a certain kind of business that we wanted to be, we were able to focus on seeking new ways to make products so we could define our own style,” says Founder Crystal Mario, who shares more about the company’s workplace practices with B The Change.

Why the B Corp Community Needs Companies of All Sizes

With more than 5,600 companies around the world, the B Corp community continues to see record growth and demand for its impact management tools. In this letter to the B Corp community, B Lab Global Lead Executive Eleanor Allen shares why companies of all sizes are crucial to driving economic change and asks for community feedback on the evolution of B Corp standards.
